Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Science (120 Hours)

Program Outcomes

Develop a practical understanding of interconnectedness of life, ecosystems, and physical Earth processes with respect to the environment.

Develop a practical understanding of the nature of environmental contamination and how contaminated sites are characterized and cleaned in order to protect human health and the environment.

Provide students with the ability to judiciously evaluate environmental geoscience issues from the scientific, environmental, and political perspective.

Develop an understanding of climate processes (e.g., cause and effect) and how those processes are used to assess the climate history of Earth and how they relate to the concept of Anthropogenic Climate Change.

Develop a well-rounded students with a diverse background through an interdisciplinary field of study in biology, chemistry, environmental science, geology, and mathematics.

Note:

  • General elective credit hours will vary dependent upon the following degree requirements:
    • Must complete a minimum of 120 credit hours
    • Must complete a minimum of 30 credit hours of coursework at the 300 or 400-level
  • Courses requiring prerequisites and corequisites are noted on the course which can be found in the course description section of the catalog.
  • Computer Information Systems is recommended. Many graduate schools require a summer field course that is available at several field camps operated by major universities.
  • 200+ Topics course in any Humanities or Social Science department with a strong environmental-related component. It requires approval from the Department Chair.
