GEOL303 Earth Materials
This course provides a comprehensive introduction to minerals as well as igneous and metamorphic rocks that make up the Earth, focusing on their physical properties, chemical composition, and classification. This information is used to interpret rock forming processes and how these processes relate to broader plate tectonic systems. Laboratory study utilizes mineral and rock hand specimens to determine rock origins. Two lectures, one 3-hour laboratory per week. (Prerequisite: CHEM105 and CHEM117)
Prerequisite
Any of the following: General Chemistry I (
CHEM105), Introductory Chemistry Laboratory I (
CHEM117)
