PHYS301 Oscillations, Waves and Light

This is an intermediate-level course on oscillations and wave phenomena, including sound and light. Topics include simple harmonic motion, driven and damped oscillations, the wave equation, traveling waves, wave interference, standing waves and overtones, the properties of fluids & solids, EM waves in media, geometric optics, interference & diffraction of light. (Prerequisites: MATH 205 and PHYS 102 & 104 or PHYS 201 & 203; Corequisite: PHYS 303 ). Fall of even years.
