K-12 Certification

Teacher education candidates may pursue K-12 certification in specific subject areas, including Art, Music, Health/Physical Education, or Modern Languages. To be certified, candidates must:

  • Complete all program requirements for their chosen subject area
  • Pass the Michigan Test for Teacher Certification (MTTC) in that area
  • Complete the secondary-level professional education coursework, as outlined later in this catalog
