Bachelor of Science in Broadcasting and Media Studies (120 Hours)

Program Outcomes

Master Technical Production Skills in Radio and Television. This encompasses operating radio and TV equipment, performing camera moves, audio mixing, lighting, and video editing. It's a consistent objective across COMM 109, COMM 210, COMM 285, and COMM 290, highlighting the foundational technical skills needed in broadcasting and digital media.

Develop On-Air Performance and Presentation Abilities. This includes performing confidently on-camera, interpreting broadcast copy, conducting radio and television interviews, and managing media appearances. This objective is prominent in COMM 109 and COMM 317, emphasizing the importance of effective communication and presentation in media and public relations.

Produce and Manage Media Content. This involves creating radio and television productions, managing projects, and understanding the roles of producers and directors. This objective appears in COMM 109, COMM 239, and COMM 285, reflecting the practical application of production skills.

Understand and Apply Media Production and Communication Principles. This objective includes understanding visual storytelling, radio broadcast technology, and media production terminology. It is important to the digital media production courses, and also to the public relations course, as understanding the medium is important to those that use it.
