T ED356 Early Language and Literacy Development
An introduction to language and literacy in the young child. Students will explore phonological and phonemic awareness, oral language development, high frequency vocabulary, spelling strategies and fluency development. Students will learn the importance of a child's cultural background and how experiences influence their literacy development. Students will learn how to create and foster a literacy-print rich environment that engages children in developmentally appropriate experiences. (Prerequisites: T ED204 and T ED205) Fall.
