Understanding the structure and function of the language of music with emphasis on modes, intervals, rhythm, cadences, melody writing, triads, non-chord tones, first species counterpoint, and four-part harmonic structures. (Prerequisite: MUS100 or placement exam Corequisite: MUS103). Fall, Spring.
