ART331 Art Education Methods for PreK–12 Teachers

This course prepares future art educators to design and implement effective, developmentally appropriate art instruction for students in PreK–12 settings. Emphasis is placed on the role of studio practice, visual literacy, and creative problem-solving in the art classroom. Students will examine major art education theories, curriculum models, and strategies for integrating art with other subject areas. Coursework includes designing sequential lessons and units, developing classroom management approaches specific to art classroom environments, and exploring advocacy for the visual arts within school and community contexts. Students will also articulate a personal philosophy of art education grounded in current pedagogical practices. (Corequisite: ART331L)
