INTD360 Junior Seminar: Professional Practices and Portfolio Development

This seminar course is designed to prepare junior-level interior design students for the transition from academia to the professional world. Emphasizing industry-standard practices, students will explore essential professional skills, ethical considerations, and strategies for successful career development within the field of interior design. Through a combination of lectures, workshops, guest speakers, and hands-on activities, students will gain practical knowledge in areas such as project management, client communication, legal and regulatory requirements, budgeting, and time management. Additionally, students will focus on the development and refinement of a professional portfolio that showcases their skills, creativity, and design philosophy. Through critical reflection and peer feedback, students will refine their portfolios to effectively communicate their unique design identity and professional competencies. By the end of the course, students will have a comprehensive understanding of the expectations and responsibilities of interior design professionals and will be equipped with the tools necessary to embark on successful careers in the field.
