NCAA Division III

Adrian College is a member of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association — a NCAA Division III conference. This conference brings a group of institutions that share common commitment to academic quality and to the conduct of athletics to support their educational purposes.

While the MIAA is the conference for a majority of the varsity sports, Adrian College also is affiliated with the following conferences: Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (Men’s and Women’s NCAA Hockey), US Figure Skating (Figure Skating and Synchronized Skating), Midwest Volleyball Association (Men’s Volleyball), MARC Conference (Men’s and Women’s Rowing).

Over the last three seasons, multiple men’s NCAA athletic programs have had success at Adrian College. In 2024, the NCAA men’s hockey team won the NCHA and later advanced to the NCAA DIII Frozen Four finishing as a semifinalist. Since then, the NCAA men’s hockey team won the NCHA Regular Season in 2025-26. Adrian College baseball continues to sit at the top of the MIAA winning three conference championships in the last three seasons capped by a 2026 appearance to the NCAA DIII College World Series finishing in the final four. Men’s wrestling won the MIAA Championship in 2024 marking the second consecutive championship, and sent Aiden Smith to the DIII National Tournament back-to-back years after winning the Regional bracket and becoming an All-American.

NCAA women’s hockey has won a pair of conference titles in the last three years including two trips to the NCAA Tournament, and one trip to the Frozen Four where they finished as a semifinalist. Track and Field has been led by Alysia Townsend who has become an All-American and was the MIAA Women’s Field Athletes of the Year in Indoor and Outdoor events. Softball began its rebuild where they were the No. 2 seed for the MIAA Tournament in 2025 and pulled off an upset in the tournament against the nationally ranked No. 1 Trine University. Women’s lacrosse has sparked a rebuild as well where the team continues to improve and is now in the mix for a conference title.
