SCJ400 Freedom of Expression and Crime

Uses major Supreme Court cases and other materials to explore the First Amendment rights of those who have been accused of crimes. Will include the study of the philosophical and legal history of freedom of expression. Will especially focus on how courts have sought to balance the constitutionalright to freedom of expression with other important social interests. (Prerequisite: junior standing). Offered as needed.
