ART400 Professional Practices in Art and Design

This course introduces students to essential professional practices in the visual arts and design fields, with an emphasis on career preparation and personal branding. Students will create a range of professional materials—including resumes, cover letters, artist/design statements, and professional biographies—among other items. Each student will also develop their own branding guidelines, build a professional website, and establish a thoughtful social media presence. Additional topics include networking, interviewing, portfolio development, and the responsible use of technology in creative careers. This course is designed to support a successful transition into internships, graduate study, or professional practice. (Preferably taken in the fall semester of the student's senior year)
